Shields Park consists of 12.5 acres and is the oldest park in Seymour. It was designated by Meedy Shields in 1852 and offers two baseball/softball diamonds, horseshoe pits and basketball courts. Families enjoy the shelter house with electrical service, picnic areas and playground with equipment intended to be user friendly to both physically and/or mentally challenged guests. Facilities include two concession areas, a bandstand, ADA accessible bathrooms and a maintenance area with interactive murals. The Schurman-Grubb Memorial Skatepark is a concrete park with a ¾ bowl, hips, ledges, rails, quarter pipes and more.
